Heaton Park Astronomy Group

About the Club

Heaton Park Astronomy Group meetings are held in the Bowls Pavilion between 7pm and 9pm every Thursday during the winter months.

We are a community group, free to attend and suitable for all ages - though we do ask that under 16s be accompanied by an adult.

We're a very friendly, informal group. Newcomers are always made welcome, whether complete beginners or those who already have some knowledge of astronomy. It's our aim to provide something for everyone.

We have talks and discussions on various aspects of the hobby and when the sky is clear we go outside so we can use our telescopes and binoculars to observe whatever planets, nebulae and other interesting celestial objects are currently on view. We typically have at least four or five telescopes set up which we encourage anyone without a telescope to have a look through.

There is disabled access to the meeting room, viewing area and toilets. Refreshments are available.
