Barry Astronomical Society
About the Club
The Barry Astronomical Society is a growing society with a wide cross section of members from novice to more experienced observers on hand for help and advice. All meetings meetings are friendly informal and relaxed. Meetings are held alternate Mondays, 7.30 pm - 9 pm.
Their aim is to bring a grassroots understanding of astronomy and the beautiful night sky to a new area of Wales. Members can hear talks given by guest speakers and the clubs own members on all aspects of astronomy usually with a slide show, and then stay for a cuppa and a chat afterwards.
Observing sessions are held at Porthkerry country park (weather permitting( a local dark site where members can look through telescopes and have help using your own equipment if needed. Each session starts with a naked eye tour of the sky. If you share an interest in learning more about the night sky (and the daytime sun) get in contact or pay them a visit.
